Why is Suzuki so successful in India? Suzuki announced: Suzuki’s first e-scooter ‘Burgman’ will come to India by 2025

Suzuki has recently announced that it will introduce its first electric scooter in India in the year 2025.

According to the company, the electric scooter will target buyers who use some type of vehicle to go to schools, offices and markets.

Let us tell you that the company is planning to introduce eight electric scooter models in India by its financial year 2030. After Honda manufacturer, Suzuki has now become the second Japanese company to announce its EV plans in India.

Honda recently announced its plans to launch the Electric Honda Activa by March 2024.

Suzuki has announced in a global press release that Suzuki Motorcycle India will launch its first electric scooter in 2025. This new electric scooter will be targeted at the commuter two-wheeler segment. While the press release calls it a ‘motorcycle’ rather than a scooter, this could be the result of a literal translation. The upcoming EV is mostly an e-scooter considering the buyers targeted by Suzuki.

Suzuki may launch the electric Burgman maxi scooter which has been in the testing phase for a while now. Otherwise, the company may also introduce a mid-sized scooter based on the Burgman’s electric platform. Reports have revealed that the Burgman has been tested for more than 2 years and has also been spotted on public roads. Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Suzuki has also highlighted its plans to launch 8 new electric two-wheelers in India by FY 2030. The company estimates that its Indian lineup will have 25 percent EV vehicles by FY 2030. Suzuki is also working on introducing larger-capacity bikes that can run on carbon-neutral fuel.

Both Honda and Suzuki are focusing on commuter-specific e-scooters that will cater to city runabouts. High-performance sporty electric vehicles are not on their agenda at the moment. When launched, the Suzuki Burgman will rival the Hero Vida V1, Ola S1, Ather 450 Plus, TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. It will also face tough competition from the Honda Activa Electric which is set to launch by March 2024
